Social Impact Assessment
Projects need to:
- Assess the potential risks and impacts for local populations
- Demonstrate consideration of project alternatives to avoid risks and impacts where possible
- Propose mitigations for risks and impacts that cannot be avoided.
Impact assessments and associated disclosure processes are key tools through which a Project sets expectations with regulators and other national stakeholders.
HEC manages baseline studies and social impact assessments, integrating health, gender and human rights considerations. HEC manages surveyor teams, builds stakeholder engagement strategies for surveys and assessments, and leads disclosure engagement with regulators and local stakeholders.
