Grievance Mechanisms
Projects need to track grievance resolution and manage stakeholder feedback over time. Project grievance mechanisms need to be accessible, transparent and widely disseminated, with the ability to manage anonymous and group submissions. Projects also need
the capacity to manage grievances that are high-risk, relating to Gender-Based Violence (GBV), other potential human rights infractions and illegal activities.
HEC builds grievance mechanisms that meet these requirements and can be maintained by site-based staff. HEC also designs stakeholder engagement activities to disseminate information on grievance mechanisms and can moderate between clients and the oversight committees that often deal with escalated grievances. HEC designs protocols for interacting with health, security and legal actors when high-risk grievances are submitted. HEC advises on grievance management software.
